Quite possibly one of my favorite RPG series of all time, there was ecstasy and jubilation when it was announced last year that We were getting a remaster of the classic Lunar games last year. Originally released on the Sega Saturn, then later on the original PlayStation, it has remained an influential series, often seeing both titles appear on top lists of RPGs and JRPGs.
While we were previously told to expect the Lunar Remastered Collection at some point during the Spring of 2025, we have now been given an official release date. That date will be April 18th, 2025. It will be released physically and digitally with the digital version being available for $49.99 and the physical being $54.99 in US Dollars respectively.
The physical versions however will not be available at mass retail, receiving exclusivity deals for at least America and Europe. In America it will be sold exclusively through online retailer Amazon. In Europe, it will be available through a partnership deal with Clear River Games. Neither of these versions are available yet, but will become available soon. One of the cool things will be that the physical versions will offer reversable cover art depicting the key arts from both Lunar and Lunar 2 that will transport you back in time.
The Lunar Remastered Collection is being developed by original developer Game Arts, with a publishing deal through GungHo Online Entertainment. The two previously collaberated in bringing another classic series from Game Arts series to modern consoles, the GRANDIA HD Collection, which if it is any indication, suggests to expect this port to be pretty well made.
Additionally, the Lunar Remastered Collection will be releasing a little over a month after another long awaited and desired JRPG port in the Sukioden I & II Remaster. People sometimes complain about ports, but I would just like to say,, this year you will be able to play GRANDIA, Lunar, Power Stone, Suikoden and so many more in one place, for many gamers, which is a pretty awesome feeling.
Players excited to return to the world of Lunar, it will be available on April 18th for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It will be compatable Via backwards Compatability with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
