According to a new report, PlayStation dropped out of plans for PC releases for upcoming games due to an inconsistency in the games that they had released to the platform, as well as a lack of revenue from them. This statement from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, who posted on the gaming forum ResetEra, stated that PlayStation staff have provided several reasons why the company has changed release tactics for single-player titles, which are now exclusively for PlayStation consoles. These reasons, which Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Herman Hulst outlined to staff, stated that the PC ports were “inconsistent”, didn’t generate enough profits,…

Earlier this month, we got our first look at Senua, the next installment in the Hellblade series, during the Xbox Games Showcase. Of course, the audience watching this couldn’t have anticipated that only a short time after, we would get hit with three potential closures in the Xbox ecosystem, including Compulsion Games, Double Fine, and Hellblade developer Ninja Theory. And yet that is exactly what happened. New CEO at Xbox, Asha Sharma, sent out a memo, suggesting a “rest was coming to the company, a signal that everybody took to mean there would be lay-offs and potential studio closures. The…

One More Level is a studio that has always interested me. I love the Ghostrunner series, which can be punishingly hard on a good day. What the series really was, though, was a counterpoint to the popularity around the soulslike genre as the industry moved towards normalizing a constant influx of hard games that honestly started to blend. Ghostrunner was blisteringly fast and punished any and every mistake. You die, you come back, but the run demanded perfection, and anything less was another time mapping out the perfect path of carnage. This is why One More Level’s veer right into…

The studio was founded in 2009, releasing their debut game Contrast in 2013, before going on to be acquired by Microsoft in 2018. Kotaku reports that this will mean more than 90 staff at the Canadian developer would be affected, with this news coming shortly after the developer began Job advertising for a new IP, as well as the news that Xbox Game Studios Craig Duncan and Chief of Staff Louise O’Connor both departed from Microsoft after decades with the company.…

The one thing we really learned during the Summer Games Fest was that everybody is very afraid to compete with Grand Theft Auto VI. It makes sense, given the juggernaut status of the game, but in this we have seen yet another problem: the number of developers who sought to avoid the November release of that game by choosing September instead. Over the last week, we saw game after game announce a September release date, making that month almost as bad for exposure as November would have. One such game, the action RPG Valor Mortis, is now set to receive a…

When Resident Evil: Veronica was announced, the teaser trailer played out predominantly in a first-person perspective to keep the big reveal that the character we were following was Clair Redfield, a big reveal. This couple with the fact that Resident Evil Requiem featured both a first and third-person perspective for gameplay that could be swapped between, made it easy to conclude that this might also be the case in the upcoming title. This is something even I concluded when covering the announcement. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxUMXniTfjM Speaking in a Q&A session, the remake’s producer, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, has put the record straight, stating that…

After several months of speculation, fueled by a major leak at Nintendo earlier this year, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake was announced as the closer for the Nintendo Direct in June 2026. While we didn’t get too much information to go on for the title overall, we did learn that it was aiming for a 2026 release date, with more information coming later this year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8eMoxo4ipE Much of the trailer unfolds as a tapestry, telling players what should be a familiar story. Set in the land of Hyrule, a young bot named Link lives in a small…
