Developer AdHoc Studio has announced that its title Dispatch has hit a milestone, selling over 1 million copies since it launched 10 days ago. The studio announced this news via a post on BlueSky. Dispatch, an episodic title, has currently released 4 of its 8 episodes, with two releasing every week, which should help to continue driving sales while the game continues to release.
While being developed by Adhoc Studio, the title was developed in conjunction with the web series Critical Role and featuring the voice talents of Aaron Paul of Breaking Bad fame in the lead role, with additional performances from Laura Bailey, Yung Gravy, Alanah Pearce, and MoistCr1TiKaL.
Dispatch itself is a semi throwback to the era when Telltale broke out, thanks to their The Walking Dead game, with the release schedule being intentional to play into this, having a set-in-stone weekly schedule rather than constant episode delays since the development is ongoing during the wait for the next part. Set in a world of superheroes, players take the role of Robert Robertson, who is a superhero known as Mecha Man. After a setback destroys his suit and forces him into a temporary hiatus, he becomes employed at SND, a company that serves a similar function to a security service, instead with superheroes and reformed supervillains being called upon to resolve disturbances. The game is divided between stylized animated narrative cutscenes and an RPG in which you manage your group as you respond to calls.
Dispatch is currently available for PlayStation 5 and PC, with no Xbox version announced as of yet. On our part, I have been playing the game and hope to do a full review once all episodes have been released. The next episodes, 5 & 6, are set to release on November 5.
