A robust new entry in the franchise that just a couple of years ago was pronounced dead, Silent Hill f is a game that was very highly received by critics and fans alike. Selling over one million copies at the time of writing, it is clear that this is a smash hit for Konami, with them vowing to continue supporting the series, now with the original Silent Hill remake quietly underway at Bloober Games. Although the story of Silent Hill F, made by acclaimed Japanese author Ryukishi07, was heavily praised, the combat did receive some criticism with how it was so heavily featured in such a horror focused videogame.
Fret not, fellow casual gamers, as just shy over two months since release developer NeoBards Entertainment has just released Patch 1.10. Addressing one of the most requested points of contention, while the combat was hit or miss for some players, the new Casual mode offers a more forgiving experience for those struggling with the endless nightmarish enemies Hinako has to face. On New Game Plus, which is a requirement to see the many different endings Silent Hill f has to offer, this update basically gives players the option to skip certain combat sequences entirely, reducing the friction induced by replaying the game several times.

Perhaps the most welcome option after the ease of combat introduced in this much needed patch is the option to turn off motion blur. Extremely prominent to the level of distraction, it was very much disappointing that there was no way to turn this graphic setting off for people who want more visual clarity in their games. On a personal level, these changes might entice me to go back to the rural Japanese town of Ebisugaoka to witness the other endings of this spinoff.
Silent Hill f is now available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC via Steam. You can read the patch notes for yourself here, and our guide here.
