Ghost of Yotei will receive a new game plus mode, something that fans have been waiting for, which is set to arrive for the game on November 24, alongside a free patch, Sony has announced. Features that will be coming alongside this include a harder difficulty, new armor sets, and weapon dyes, the ability to replay completed missions, as well as new accessibility options.
This news was announced via a PlayStation Blog post by Senior Communications Manager for Sucker Punch Productions, Andrew Goldfarb. This will allow Protagonist Atsu to punish enemies in the game, which, as he states:
Yes, that means it’s time to bring a gun to a sword fight, with all of the armors, abilities, and weapons from your first playthrough available from the start of the game.
The mode unlocks after players have completed the main game, with a new difficulty to choose from and two new trophies associated with the mode. A new currency, called Ghost Flowers, will also be available to earn. These will allow players to interact with new vendors in the game so they can unlock over 30 new cosmetic items.
In addition, this free patch adds accessibility options that allow for directional button remapping. The photo mode will also receive more features, such as shutter speed options, a composition grid, and new filters, adding to the many already in the game. For the replayable missions, accessible after completion of the main game as well, a new stats display will also be added for them.
While there is a lot to enjoy with this new update, and clearly, there is continued work on the PlayStation 5 exclusive, this isn’t all we can expect in the future as well. The blog post ends by reminding players that Ghost of Yotei Legends, the co-op multiplayer mode for the game, which was announced earlier this year, is still slated to release in 2026.
