Despite being a “central event” of their year, and having attended every year in the past, Nintendo will be skipping Gamescom in 2024. Gamescom is the largest gaming convention in the world by attendance, so Nintendo’s absence will be felt. Many have looked towards the event as a potential showcase ground for the Nintendo Switch 2, having been rumored to have been shown behind closed doors to journalists during the 2023 event, this no longer seems to be the case. A Nintendo of Europe spokesperson talked to German website Games Wirtschaft, stating: Gamescom is a central event in Nintendo’s event calendar.…

Square Enix has one last act left in its Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, which is currently in development. If series producer Yoshinori Kitase is to be believed, this final part should have a streamlined development process that will see the game release with less wait than the one between Remake and Rebirth. After its announcement, Remake took five years to fully release, though in its case we know there were several issues including a change of developer and some struggles in deciding on gameplay direction. Rebirth managed to shave a year off its development life-cycle, something Kitase has attributed…

Stellar Blade was a title that caught my interest from the first time it was showcased, long before it became one of the biggest and most relevant titles of PlayStation’s 2024. It just feels like a ME game, from its art direction to its combat, a blend of old-school styles with new-school implementation. Despite how excited I was though, I couldn’t help feel this gnawing in the back of my head.
