Herdling only needs to take a few moments to harken back to the adventures of Indie games gone by. Similar to Journey and Abzu, the game makes clear that the destination is secondary to the path you walk to get there, and that is honestly fine, since the journey delivers on the promise to transfix you with the monotony of your everyday life, and offer you a fantastic moment guiding fantastical creatures into the unknown. Players take control of a young kid who we first meet sleeping on a crappy mattress in the streets. There is no offer of understanding…
One of the earliest trophies/Achievements you can earn along your journey in Herdling, Road Rage, can be easily missed if you are not paying attention. To earn this, the player will need to guide their herd into 10 cars they find in the city and destroy them. It is noticeable when you wreck these cars, but you might not realize it, given that ‘wreck’ in this context means that the windows are smashed in, with the metal slightly dented. That is all the damage you will see on the car. Only one hit is required on a car to ‘wreck’…
Upcoming indie game Unbeatable received a new trailer during Opening Night Live, alongside a release date of November 6, 2025. The title is developed by D-Cell Games, which launched a Kickstarter for the title back in 2021, seeing Unbeatable reach its goal in only 15 hours. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwKFOZeJukA Unbeatable is a stylized rhythm game that draws inspiration from Anime, in particular invoking some FLCL series vibes during the trailer. Players divide their time between being able to explore, in which protagonist Beat can wander the area they are in, play minigames, and craft new songs. There are then the action segments…
Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth title in Capcom’s long-running survival horror series, received a brand new gameplay trailer during Opening Night Live at Gamescom 2025. The trailer continues the trend across the last few games in the series of keeping the narrative a mystery, focusing on the new protagonist for the game, Grace Ashcroft, as well as her mother, one of the protagonists of Resident Evil Outbreak, Alyssa Ashcroft. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRlm3WnzoLM What we do know about Resident Evil 9 Reqium is that Grace Ashcroft becomes an FBI agent at some point following the murder of her mother at Wrenwood Hotel. The…
Sony has announced a $50 price hike for every console in the PlayStation 5 family in the U.S. region. This includes the PlayStation 5 physical edition, the PlayStation 5 digital edition, and the PlayStation 5 Pro consoles. These price raises will go into effect on August 21. Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Vice President, Global Marketing, Isabelle Tomatis, released a short…
Game Science, developer of the massively successful Black Myth Wukong, ended Opening Night Live at Gamescom with the announcement of Black Myth: Zhong Kui, a new story and sequel to Wukong. The game was announced with a trailer that made clear the game was in early development, with no release date on the horizon for the title as of yet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwYZ7xC2v80 The sequel solidifies that Black Myth is a series that will explore eastern mythology, rather than one specifically using the Journey to the West or the character of Sun Wukong as a template to tell its stories. Here, players…
