Not quite a year after its official release Mojang has announced it will be bringing its latest spin-off, Minecraft Legends, to an end with no more support coming to the game. The developer has confirmed that it will be “taking a step back,” from further work on the game. The final update for the game will be an in-game challenge set to release this month. The actors union SAG-AFTRA, which represents Voice Actors across multiple industries as well as mo-cap performers, has agreed to a deal involving AI which they are calling “Groundbreaking.” This comes only a few days into a year following a strike by members of the union with AI at the forefront of the issues they were striking against. It’s been over 10 years since the original Alan Wake shined its flashlight on the Xbox 360, but it’s not like Remedy has been quiet since then. Since then their games Quantum Break and Control built on the foundation that Alan and his descent into a horror novel left for the studio, even beginning to leave Alan a far bigger world to exist in with Control building heavily into the Alan Wake narrative. The twisted and unsettling Live-Action mystery game Immortality will arrive on PlayStation 5 this month, formerly being a console exclusive on Xbox as well as a day one Game-Pass title since August 2022. Hoping to put more of their upcoming first-party titles into perspective, Microsoft has announced that their first Xbox Direct will be held on Thursday, January 18th at 12pm PT/3pm ET/8pm UK. Game development platform Unity has announced that it is cutting 1,800 jobs amid a company restructuring, in an attempt to “position itself for long-term and profitable growth.” The announcement comes after a tumultuous year of layoffs across the industry, during which Unity had downsized several jobs as well. These layoffs were confirmed as part of an SEC filing, in which the company stated that jobs cut will represent around 25 percent of the company.
