One of the highest reviewed titles of last year, Blue Prince, has received a surprise launch today on Nintendo Switch 2. This news was announced via Nintendo’s Indie World showcase that was aired earlier today, with the reveal acting as the broadcast’s one more thing after the event had seemingly wrapped up. The title is available to purchase via the Nintendo eShop.
Originally, Blue Prince was released in April of 2025 across the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. The title was an an eight year project being developed by solo developer Tonda Ros and is published by Raw Fury Games. The title holds a 92 on Metacritic, the same score as eventual Game of the Year winner Clair Obscure: Expedition 33.
In the game, players take the role of someone who inherited a mysterious mansion that shifts and changes every day based on the blueprints the player connects with it. In this regard, it is a rogue-like in nature, with a heavy puzzle-solving twist. There is a lot more depth to this, but the experience really is one that players should discover for themselves. And now is clearly a great time to do so, having the title with you on the go thanks to the Nintendo Switch 2’s hybrid nature.
In additional news, several other indie titles were highlighted during the Indie World event. This includes a demo for the upcoming stylish, acrobatic train game Denshaattack, which was also released today. Moonlighters 2 was also showcased during the event, with the announcement that it will release on the Nintendo Switch 2 when the 1.0 update for the title drops later this year.
Nintendo has also held a Pokémon Presents event and a Partner Direct earlier this year.
