Upcoming PlayStation Exclusive title Code Violet has announced a delay to their intended release in November, pushing the date of release to December 12, 2025. Developer TeamKill Media stated that the reason for this delay is to avoid competing directly with the popular FPS Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which was scheduled to release on the same date, with the publisher stating it would be “impossible” for their much smaller title to compete for exposure with.
As compensation to all players for this delay, players will receive two Christmas-themed outfits for the lead protagonist, Violet, when the game releases in December. Ironically, this news comes during a time when several games, such as the upcoming Persona-inspired RPG Demonschool, have also announced delays to avoid direct competition with the hotly anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong, releasing early in September.
In a press release from TeamKill Media, they stated:
While we understand this delay may be disappointing, we’re committed to making the extra time count. During this additional month, we’ll be enhancing our character models, optimizing and polishing to deliver the most immersive and polished experience possible.
Code Violet is a third-person shooter that drew some comparisons upon announcement with the classic Capcom title Dino Crisis. It revolves around Violet, being abducted by time travelers and brought to a future where humanity is sterile. She is forced to escape from a colony that is overrun with dinosaurs and failed experiments in this unfamiliar future.
TeamKill Media, as a developer and publisher, is perhaps best known for the 2023 release Quatum Error, which received mostly unfavorable reviews upon launch. They also developed the 2024 title Son And Bone; both of these games currently have sequels in development. Code Violet is only announced for PlayStation 5 at this time. The studio has a history of developing for PlayStation as console exclusives; however, they have released titles for PC in the past. It remains to be seen if they will be here.
