It appears that a PC Version of Game of the Year-nominated Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is set to be announced soon. This is according to a listing that has popped up on the ESRB website. Gematsu has also reported that the publisher listed on the site is Sony Interactive Entertainment. This is interesting as, while SIE was involved with the original title, which was ported to PC eight months after release, 505 Games was the listed publisher on that port.
With Kojima Productions having acquired the Death Stranding IP from Sony last year, it might have stood to see the two get some separation from each other when finally porting the title. Death Stranding 2: On The Beach was released in June of this year, which means we might have a similar timeframe to wait, but an announcement is most likely coming soon. Kojima has made several announcements via The Game Awards, where his game is nominated, which might make this venue a likely place to finally get a date.
Death Stranding initially launched on the PlayStation 4 in November 2020, with a PC port releasing the next year. A Director’s Cut would then see release in 2021 on PlayStation 5. It would take a while after this, but eventually, the title would also be released on the Xbox Series in 2024.
The universe of Death Stranding is also set to expand further, with an animated series being announced for Disney+. A live-action movie based on the game series is also in development, telling a new story rather than recapping the events of the games. There is also an animated movie called Death Stranding: Mosquito, made by ABC Animation. Kojima himself is also very busy beyond his work on the expanded universe, developing the first episode of the Xbox Game Studios horror game OD, as well as the SIE published Physint, meant to be a spiritual successor to Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid.
