Developer Techland has announced that Dying Light: The Beast, the upcoming standalone title continuing the narrative of the original Dying Light and its protagonist, Kyle Crane, has been delayed by an additional month. Originally planned to release on August 22, the title has been pushed back and will now release on August 22, 2025.
This news was shared via a post on Pilgrim Outpost, Techland’s official hub for the Dying Light fan community. In this post, the developer stated that they “understand that this may be disappointing,” but “our experience has shown how important the first impression is.” They go on to say the reason for this delay of four weeks is to “address final details” alongside plans to fine-tune the experience for the game’s release.”
Dying Light 2 was released in 2022 to mixed reviews from critics, with many noting a host of technical flaws and issues hosted within the game. While directly noted in their delay announcement, this might have played some factor in their decision to take the extra time to attempt to hammer out any issues that might still be present. It should be noted that Techland has addressed many of the complaints of Dying Light 2 in post updates and patches.
While not able to cover it ourselves, a preview of Dying Light: The Beast was recently made available for many publications to go hands-on with the game. For that part, most of what has come out of that suggests that Techland has a game that recaptures the feeling of the original 2015 release in some of the best ways.
Dying Light: The Beast will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC on September 19, 2025, with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One ports slated for late 2025.
