The current performer behind God of War‘s lead protagonist, Kratos, actor Christopher Judge, has suggested we are likely to get more news concerning the franchise this summer. This comes via a video from YouTuber Fuzhpuzy during the Fan Expo in Canada, that “you’ll be hearing about what we’re doing probably late summer.” It should be noted that Judge may not have been aware that he was being recorded at the time.
During the most recent State of Play, we got several God of War announcements from developer Santa Monica Studio, including the stealth release of God of War: Sons of Sparta, a metroidvania 2D sidescroller set before the main character’s transformation into a servant of the gods. This was meant as a much smaller draw, though, to the big announcement of the God of War Trilogy Remake, which is set to bring back original Kratos VO TC Carson. Judge was asked if he would have any involvement in this project, which he confirmed he would not, but that he is still involved in some other game, most likely a sequel to the Norse God of War titles from 2018 and 2022.
Judge went on to talk about the Trilogy Remake, stating that “all the new technology in it, add more stuff, a new fighting system.” There have been a lot of questions surrounding the Trilogy Remake, given that the announcement itself stated the game was in early development, with nothing that can be shown yet. Fans in particular have been curious if the titles will feature the infamous sex scene in the first game, though all those questions will probably remain unanswered for a while.
A new God of War title has been rumored to be in development since late 2025, with it being suggested that Kratos will square off against Egyptian gods following the conclusion of the Norse saga in Ragnarok. Beyond this, a live-service God of War title was in development, with fans having believed the unannounced Bluepoint title, which was cancelled at the start of 2025, to be that game. A Live-Action God of War series is also in development at Amazon, with Sons of Anarchy star Ryan Hurst attached to play Kratos.
Most likely, if Christopher Judge’s timeframe is accurate, this could place an announcement during Summer Games Fest, either on the main stage or during another State of Play from Sony around that time. This, however, is just speculation.
