Starting the Xbox Partner Showcase, the developer behind RoboCop: Rogue City, Polish studio Teyon, along with publisher Nacon, announced a new game entitled Hunter: The Reckoning – Deathwish. If the world looks familiar to you, the title is based on the World of Darkness TTRPG Hunter: The Reckoning, a franchise that shares a universe with their more well-known franchise Vampire: The Masquerade.
The trailer itself offers very little in the way of actual context, with much of it being cinematic, with only a few pieces being in-game near the end. Hunter, as a franchise, represents the opposite spectrum of Vampire: The Masquerade, with the players taking the role of humans who learn of the supernatural, including both Vampires and werewolves. Based on the beginning of this trailer, you will definitely be hunting vampires like Ventrues if you are familiar with the VTM series.
What we do know is that the game will be set in New York City, with a similar setup of the lead character discovering that there is a second world populated by monsters, leading the player to a choice as to whether they will become a hunter or prey. The game will draw at least somewhat from the studio’s previous game, though the director of the title Piotr Łatocha has stated it has a slower pace.
The game will be played in first-person perspective, with a semi-open world that can be explored. Hunter: The Reckoning – Deathwish will also feature romance options, a branching storyline, and unique side quests. A character editor will be featured, allowing players to choose body type and features.
While no official release date has been given for Hunter: The Reckoning – Deathwish, the trailer states that it is aiming for a Summer 2027.
