Ysbryd Games has announced that the Necrosoft Games-developed RPG game, Demonschool has been delayed for release by two months, originally slated to release on September 3, but now planned to release on November 19. This news was broken via a press release in which it was stated that the decision was reached in part due to the long-awaited title Hollow Knight: Silksong, which announced it would release three days prior to the originally planned date, an announcement made during Gamescom last week.
In the press release from Ysbryd, Brian Kwek stated, “We have to remind ourselves that gaining visibility for Demonschool is our main goal,” before going on to state:
Thus, the Ysbryd team strongly believes we would not be doing our game any favors by wading into waters we can clearly see are blood red. If the September period is going to be Silksong’s moment, then we need to be elsewhere on the calendar to give Demonschool its own moment to be seen and talked about meaningfully.
Before this, Ysbryd states that they have already distributed steam keys (something we can confirm) as part of what they refer to as “part of a healthy review program” and that they “had every intention to proudly release on Sept 3,” making clear there will be no more planned delays following this, as Demonschool had seen delays prior to this point as well.
Demonschool takes its cues from Revelations: Persona, which was released in 1996. Players take on the role of Faye, a freshman who arrives at a school on a mysterious island. As the last in a long line of demon hunters, she and her misfit friends will become involved in demonic occurrences in hopes of preventing a soon-to-occur apocalypse. To this aim, players will attend school, socialize when they can, and take part in grid-based turn-based combat with enemies.
Ysbryd Games is also known for publishing titles such as Va-11 Hall-A and WORLD OF HORROR. Demonschool Will be Available for PlayStation 5 and 4, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
