Fortnite and Epic Games has given full details of its crossover with the extremely popular Netflix series K-Pop Demon Hunters, which is set to fully launch this week. All three members of HUNTR/x, Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, will be added to the game as skins available for purchase; however, the characters will also start in a timed game mode, as well as pop up in the core battle royale experience.
Hoard Mode: Demon Rush launches tomorrow, October 2, and will be available until November 1. It will see players team up with the members of HUNTR/X in a new take on the popular Fortnite mode. Traditionally, this mode has arrived alongside the main games’ Fortnitemares event, though this year, the retitled Demon Rush Mode has received a slight makeover intended to tie it into the themes of both the characters from the film, as well as Fortnite Chapter 6’s demonic themes.
Demon Rush will allow you to equip K-Pop Demon Hunters’ inspired abilities between each wave of survival you fight through, as well as recruit one of the pop superstar trio to act as a computer-controlled ally. In the Battle Royale /Zero Build and Blitz Royale modes, you will be able to get K-Pop Demon Hunters-themed items. These will include Rumi’s empowered sword, Zoey’s golden bubble shield, Mira’s x-tra spicy ramyeon, as well as the Derpy teleporters mask.
K-Pop Demon Hunters will also be the latest officially licensed brand that will be available for creators to use to build their own experiences. This follows previous collaborations with other franchises like Squid Games, another Netflix-owned IP, as well as franchises like The Walking Dead and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. K-pop Demon Hunters was released this summer and quickly became a juggernaut of a film, breaking records such as becoming the most-streamed title on the service ever, achieving more than 325 million views. Several of the film’s songs additionally achieved chart-topping numbers on Spotify.
