Kadokawa, the parent company of FromSoftware, has confirmed that there are plans to release Elden Ring: Nightreign will receive new DLC by the end of March 2026. This announcement comes amid fan frustrations, which have led to negative reviews on Steam for the Deluxe Edition Upgrade. This news comes via a financial report, which stated the game performed well beyond initial projections for sales and that “We are aiming for further sales growth for Elden Ring Nightreign, original Elden Ring, and its DLC.”
They went on to state:
We have multiple game titles in the development pipeline. FromSoftware is currently developing Elden Ring Nightreign DLC (planned for release in FY2025), Elden Ring Tarnished Edition (planned for release in 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2), and The Duskbloods (planned for release in 2026).
While it might not seem clear, FY2025 stands for financial year, meaning the game is scheduled for some point prior to Kadokawa’s fiscal year ends on March 31, 2026. Despite the DLC being listed on the Steam storefront for Q4 2025, players who bought the Deluxe Upgrade Pack, which includes upcoming DLC content, have taken to posting negative reviews due to the lack of news on what this content will entail. On the Steam Page, it states, “This product is an additional DLC that includes additional Nightfarers and bosses.”
Launching on May 29, Elden Ring: Nightreign is a multiplayer co-op game using the challenging combat of FromSoftware’s other titles to build a punishing game that pits three players against powerful bosses. This is the first live-service title developed by FromSoftware, so it’s not surprising there will be some hiccups along the way. The issue here is that these titles live and die by their post-launch support, and unfortunately, the studio seems to be treating this period similarly to how they would a major expansion to their single-player titles. The game did receive some post-launch content, with ultra-hard mode Deep of Night launching in September, but beyond that, very little has been confirmed or even spoken about.
Hopefully, these issues and how they treat their live service titles are resolved, as this is not the only title of that kind being developed. Announced for the Nintendo Switch 2, The Duskbloods, which immediately caught fans’ eyes with its Bloodborne-esque look, is also a multiplayer-centric title that is planned to release in 2026. There are a lot of lessons that can be learned now that could aid this release in the future.
