Well-received puzzle and action platformer Kena: Bridge of Spirits will be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 platform this spring, developer Ember Labs has announced. The title was originally released for PlayStation 5 and PC in 2021, thanks in part to funding from Sony Interactive Entertainment under a console-exclusive deal, with Kena eventually making her way to Xbox in 2024.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Kena: Bridge of Spirits is set to include both the Anniversary DLC and the New Game+ mode. This will include features like additional “Charmstones, Spirit Guide Trials, Kena Outfits, and accessibility features.” The New Game+ will allow players who have beaten the game to restart with “all of their previously unlocked abilities, including upgrades, outfits, Rot, and more, as well as redesigned and more challenging combat encounters.”
For those unfamiliar with the game, players take the role of Kena, a spirit guide seeking to restore her village to its former glory, while completing her task of guiding wayward souls toward the afterlife. It would go on to win both Best Independent Game and Best Debut Game awards during the Video Game Awards in 2021.
This announcement could not come at a better time, with Ember Labs having only recently revealed Kena: Scars of Kosmora, a direct sequel, during a Sony State of Play this year. While the sequel has only been announced for PlayStation and PC at this time, given how the series has branched out to other platforms, and Ember Labs remains the primary publisher, the sequel is most likely to see a multiplatform release at some point in the future.
Kena: Scars of Kosmora is set to release sometime in 2026. We will need to wait and see on both that and an official release date for Kena Bridge of Spirits on the Nintendo Switch 2.
