LET IT DIE Online Service Set To End In September

Publisher GungHo Online Entertainment, in conjunction with developer Supertrick Games, has announced that live service action title LET IT DIE will be ending its online service on September 1, 2026. The free-to-play title will not actually die then, despite its name, and instead will be relaunched as LET IT DIE offline edition in the Fall, allowing players to now enjoy the game without the need for an internet connection.

LET It DIE was originally released for the PlayStation 4 in December of 2016, with a PC release following in 2018. It had started life as a completely different concept under Grasshopper Manufacture, known as Lily Bergamo, which would have seen players take the role of a female demon hunter in the near future, with a focus on extreme action. Eventually, it morphed into the much darker and brutal game about slowly climbing a tower, constantly dying and being reborn, with Uncle Death helping you along the way.

When the Offline Edition Launches, players will still be able to traverse the Tower of Barb without the restrictions of online service, but it will be sold as a DLC for the title that must be purchased via the platform you are on. Save Data from the game will be transferable to the Offline Edition, with a designated transfer period to be announced, during which you can do so. Transferring data between a PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 will also be supported with a PS ID, with crossplay between Steam and PlayStation unavailable.

When the servers shut down in September, LET IT DIE will have been active for 10 years, which is nothing to scoff at. A Battle Royale spin-off, DEATHVERSE: LET IT DIE, was launched in 2023, only lasting three months before its services were suspended. An official sequel, entitled LET IT DIE: INFERNO, was also launched in 2025, though it was not free-to-play like its predecessor. Nor was it well received.

As for series creator Grasshopper Manufacture, you can check out our review of their latest game, Romeo Is A Dead Man, which we gave an 8.5, right here.
