Another month, another gaming showcase that takes my breath away. Far from the formula created by the Nintendo Direct, The Galaxies Autumn Showcase 2025 proved to be an exhilarating and charismatic ride of upcoming indies that deserve your attention. Hosted by Jane Douglas, presenter and writer at Outside Xbox, the event was lean in grand speeches to focus on what we all came here to see: video games.
With a couple of zany jokes deftly sprinkled in with games such as Egging On and references to the Warhammer 40k franchise thanks to boomer shooter Boltgun 2, things kept moving at a brisk pace. Every trailer capturing the best of each game’s angles, there was a notable variety of genres that kept the event fresh all the way to the end. Old-school FPS, turn-based tactical RPGs, horror adventures, and cozy dog simulators were all on the menu, proving that the Galaxies Showcase has carved out its own identity that I can’t wait to see more of.
I personally have a strong connection with this showcase because it is how I found out about The Knightling, a wondrous open-world indie that I eventually gave my second ever 10 out of 10. Considering the jam-packed lineup, it was hard to choose ten of them, but they are all worthy of your attention. Without further ado, here are the top 10 games that caught my eye, and rest assured I will cover in some way, shape or form down the line:

Walkies: Tails of the Sanctuary
A ruff around the edges game where you play as a rowdy beagle to cause mayhem, this one is here because of its straightforward concept. I have been hoping for years now to hear about the next Nintendogs, but they just won’t listen. I’m very glad that developer Fast Loris Studios took matter into their own hands because we will soon be able to run around in a cute dog in a bow tie, and a top hat, as nature intended.

New games inspired by the classics is nothing new. There is a reason they are so iconic, after all. Ground Zero takes a cue from the original Resident Evil games, from the low poly graphics to the tanky controls. That is a somewhat risky endeavor because, just like it could remind of the good old days, it could backfire and make it into a frustrating experience instead. Cautiously optimistic about this one!

Edenfall: Legacy Of The First Wardens
I remember watching a post of the developer of this game a while ago participating in the trend “Make it exist first, make it good later” and showing the transformation of the protagonist in Edenfall into a fox. As it was predictably a little shoddy, I was so pleased to see the progress the game has made so far. While the animations could still do with a little polish, as a fan of action adventures, rooting for this one to succeed.

Described as a survival horror metroidvania, Silver Pines’ art direction is astounding. Gritty to the bone, this nightmarish tale set in small town America checks all the boxes for me. Taking on the role of a private investigator, its moody atmosphere seems that the developers clearly understood the assignment. The 2D perspective gives it the right amount of scary, too, without compromising on the unsettling scenarios, paranormal vibes and gruesomely designed enemies. Count me in.

Rue Valley is an isometric, choice-based narrative RPG about a man stuck in a time-loop. The artstyle is evocative from the first moment that you see it, with an Americana comic book style aesthetic that sits well with the edgy dialogues. Showing a deep commitment to different dialogues and reactions depending on your choices, I am personally excited to see where it goes. Complex decision-making ensures even the most fervent of role players should have this on their radar.

The Cthulhu mythos is a rich one, with countless lovecraftian stories told over the years. That said, the fandom can’t get enough of new video games with those themes. Descending into the Pacific Ocean in a mining station, this first person horror adventure is not for the faint of heart. Otherworldly beings in a futuristic setting, this graphical showcase made in Unreal Engine 5 aims to please spooky fans.

Boasting a fast-paced combat system that instantly caught my interest as a fan of Tales of Arise, Edge of Memories is a sprawling anime-inspired action adventure. Fluid cutscenes, including a sequence riding an adorable animal akin to a wolf, show that this game is sparing no expense to cause a lasting impression. Exploring the land of Avaris to stop a terrible corruption, Edge of Memories might be accused of being cliché but never of lacking style.

Transforming into the famous cryptid known as the Skinwalker, this hack n slash action platformer does its best to show you the bloody side of pixel art. In a quest to save his daughter, a man must transform into said beast to mow down, tear through limbs and slash his way through the many enemies on his path. As the trailer focused on the father playing a melancholic melody on the piano, expected emotional story beats alongside the gorefest.

The most hilarious trailer in the whole show bar none, Rock Beasts won me and my Twitch chat within 30 seconds. Starting off with sardonic jokes designed by and for millennials, the way this rags-to-riches story of musical anthropomorphic animals is presented is shaping up to be one for the ages. With business management, dialogue choices and a rhythm-based minigame, it checks off all the marks of a wild and wacky adventure. Just how I like them.

Let’s get straight to the point. Solasta 2 is my number one pick for three reasons: its publisher is Kepler Interactive (Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Rematch, Tchia), it has a striking tactical turn-based combat reminiscent of Baldur’s Gate 3, and the movement looks very fluid. A dark fantasy tale where you control 4 adventurers and choose their fate? Say less. Without having heard anything about this game until today’s showcase, I am 100% interested in whatever they are cooking over there. May the wait be short.
As the event winded down, the highly anticipated release date of the Steamboat Willie-inspired FPS Mouse P.I. For Hire was revealed, with a date of March 19, 2026. Right before the event ended, a one more thing world premiere was shown. A very strange and unique game that seemed like a mix between Satisfactory and Escape From Tarkov, Unhinged is an open-world survival crafting game that promises to be like no other.
