The developers behind the critically praised 1000xRESIST, Sunset Visitor 斜陽過客, have announced their next game during the Triple-I World showcase, held today. Prove You’re Human is a first-person narrative adventure in which the player is tasked with convincing an AI that it is not human. Fans familiar with the studio’s previous game will already be prepared for the existential questions that seem to be on offer with this latest experience.
The player will take the role of a product tester of Mesa, a program that is as confident in their humanity as you are. To make this concept more complex, you will be controlling a digital copy of the product tester. The goal is to spend time in this digital world learning about Mesa, using this knowledge to exploit her weaknesses and destroy any delusions of humanity that she possesses.
In this digital world, there will be other tasks to complete as well. One of the most common things showcased throughout the trailer is the need to complete multiple CAPTCHA puzzles that blend into the surreal landscape you can explore. You can also get to know various other employees you might encounter, as well as check in with the corporeal you.
In a press release, the Founder of Sunset Visitor 斜陽過客, Remy Siu, discussed the development of the game. He stated:
We’re always trying to lean into our strengths and locality. In Prove You’re Human, we’re very intentionally weaving real-world footage into our virtual landscape. Vancouver is a well-known film town. We’re accessing that infrastructure, along with our long-time collaborators, to bring a sense of tactility to human forms in the game.
Prove You’re Human is being published by Black Tabby Publishing. This is a newly announced publishing company constructed by the developers behind another popular indie title, Slay The Princess, Black Tabby Games. Currently, there is no release date, but the title is available to wishlist on Steam. There is no announcement for a console release as of yet.
