PS5 System Update Allows For Dualsense Connection To Multiple Devices At Once

PlayStation 5‘s latest system update, which goes live tomorrow, finally allows players to sync their DualSense controller to multiple devices without the need to de-sync and then resync it every time they want to use it with another one. Platforms that allow the DualSense to be paired with it include PC, Laptop, Mobile devices, tablets, and the more traditional PlayStation consoles such as the PS5 or PS5 Pro.

Sony stated that by allowing players this freedom, it “believes enabling compatibility of our peripherals across multiple platforms creates a more flexible and seamless gaming experience.” This means that if you are playing a game on the PlayStation 5 and you want to switch to a game on Steam or your phone, you will be able to do so without the need to go through your Bluetooth options to relocate the controller and connect it, a process that can be annoying.

This new system will work by assigning each device you use a different ‘slot’ on the controller, which can be accessed using a unique combination of the PS button in the center, as well as the four action buttons on the right side of the controller. This allows you to save four options in total that you can cycle between. The controller will then showcase between one and four lights to easily indicate which system you are connected to.

This feature was initially released for testing earlier this summer, but is set to be rolled out to all players soon. To make sure you have the latest update on your console, make sure to go into your settings, then head to system, then system software, then system software update, and settings, where you can check your current firmware version.

In addition to the controller update, this update will also feature an update that allows a power saver option through settings as well. Sony stated, “Future updates for games such as Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Demon’s Souls, and Ghost of Yōtei will include support for the Power Saver option, with more titles to follow.”
