Jolly Match 3 MR is the first match-3 game made for mixed reality, and it is running a new competitive event called Dragon’s Cave to test its players’ skills.
Released earlier last year, Jolly Match 3 MR is an exclusive Meta Quest title offering classic match-3 mechanics in a new light: mixed reality. This free-to-play game lets players adjust the board to their liking, using either their controllers or hands. With over 900 puzzles available to use boosters and combos, daily quests reward returning puzzle fans. The current Dragon’s Cave event ups the ante by introducing competitive elements to the usual laid-back gameplay.
Joining up to 100 players in a shared asynchronous challenge, the goal of the Dragon’s Cave event run is the following: clear seven consecutive Match 3 levels without a single loss to earn a share of 10,000 gold coins. A cinematic fantasy take on competition TV shows, the unfortunate players who fail the course on the way to the seven matches for ultimate glory are removed from the field by the almighty dragon. At the same time, those who do prevail will receive the prize of a cutscene defeating the flying lizard and the celebration among fellow winners to divide the gold coins equally.
An otherwise relaxing match-3 game, the Dragon’s Cave event runs make for a thrilling twist looking to prove their might against the legendary creature. Players eliminated can keep trying on subsequent rounds to win the shared treasure. The gold coins earned can be used to spend on boosters and other content. Previous updates for Jolly Match 3 MR included a Christmas and Halloween-themed event with minigames, leaderboards, and quality of life features based on community feedback.
