Developer CD Projekt has a secret expansion in the works for their game-of-the-year-winning title, The Witcher III: Wild Hunt, various reports have suggested. This is not the first time the 2015 title has been suggested to be set to receive content, with reports coming out online last summer, with Polish games insider Borys Nieśpielak being the first to outline some details of a supposed expansion in the works.
Then, Nieśpielak had stated that the development of the project was being handled by Fool’s Theory, the same studio being tasked with the remake of the original The Witcher game. Today, in a report from Eurogamer, Nieśpielak once again made the claim, feeling more confident in his assertion, given recent hints by CD Projekt themselves that more content was in the works.
In the latest financial report from the company, published back in November 2025, CD Projekt chief financial officer Piotr Nielubowicz made some statements that suggested as much, though without giving an idea of what this content will be. He stated:
Given our current progress, there is a chance that new content hinted upon in recent calls and reports may see release in the coming year.
He additionally suggested the content would have an impact on the company’s upcoming results, suggesting it would see release soon and be more meaningful in scope than just some light additions. Fool’s Theory was also suggested to have another unnamed project in the works, with joint studio CEO Michał Nowakowski mentioning “other projects” in close succession to the studio’s work on The Witcher 1 Remake, as well as their support on upcoming title The Witcher IV, both of which are already known to the public.
The Witcher IV, finally showcased during The Game Awards in 2024, has entered “full production,” being the current focus of CD Projekt, with a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 in preproduction. It has been a decade since The Witcher III: Wild Hunt was released, with it having been re-released on multiple platforms, such as the current gen of hardware. It could be a smart choice to release a DLC prior to the next game, renew interest with the more than 60 million fans who have purchased the title since release.
Gearbox deployed a similar tactic prior to the release of Borderlands 3, releasing a DLC for Borderlands 2 to help bridge the gaps between the games, which could be the prevailing thought here as well.
