Star Wars: Zero Company, the debut game from Developer Bit Reactor and Publisher EA Games, was officially showcased during the Star Wars Celebration in Japan. It received a narrative-driven trailer that ended with some gameplay, showcasing its tactical gameplay.
Star Wars: Zero Company will be set during the “twilight of the Clone Wars,” and will put players in control of Hawks, a former Republic officer who is now in charge of an elite unit of operatives taking on clandestine missions with high risk. A single-player experience, the upcoming title will feature tactical turn-based gameplay with “meaningful outcomes from player choices,” such as a permadeath mode that players can enable for an experience more in line with games like XCOM.
If Star Wars: Zero Company reminds you of XCOM, there is a good reason for that, as Bit Reactor is a studio made up of several former XCOM developers, as well as many from other popular franchises. On their website it states:
We collectively developed some of the most successful games you’ve heard of, such as XCOM, Civilization, Gears of War, and Elders Scrolls Online.
Bit Reactor is also being added in the development of this game by Star Wars: Jedi Survivor and Apex Legends developer Respawn Entertainment, though the extent of their involvement has yet to be fully outlined. Lucasfilm Games is also supporting the development of the game.
Alongside this reveal, the trailer ends by stating we can expect to take part in the Clone Wars with Zero Company at some point in 2026. It will be available for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. Additional news coming out of the Star Wars Celebration includes a release date for Star Wars Outlaws on the Nintendo Switch 2, which will not be releasing at launch with the system but will arrive later this year.
