After a slight leak last week, EA has officially unveiled the title of their next Star Wars game, as well as the studios involved with its development. Entitled Star Wars: Zero Company, development is being spearheaded by Bit Reactor, with support from Lucasfilm Games and Star Wars: Jedi Survivor developer Respawn Entertainment.
There isn’t much known at this time about Star Wars: Zero Company, outside of it being a “single-player turn-based tactics game”. There isn’t long to wait for more answers, however, as EA has stated it will give its first look at the game on April 19th during the Star Wars Celebration in Japan.
The style of the game shouldn’t be too shocking, and given Developer Bit Reactor’s pedigree concerning the tactical game genre, there should be enough to at least peak players’ interests. Bit Reactor is a new lormed studio, but as their website lets you know, they are made up of people who “collectively developed some of the most successful games you’ve heard of, such as XCOM, Civilization, Gears of War, and Elders Scrolls Online.”
Before this, we knew that Bit Reactor was formed to develop a Star Wars game and that Respawn was helping on the project, but these are the first indicators as to what the project will be. What exactly Respawns’ involvement with the project also remains to be seen. The studio, despite success with the likes of Star Wars: Jedi and Apex Legends, has undergone a number of hardships in recent years. This includes the cancellation of a Star Wars FPS title a year ago, alongside mass layoffs at EA.
Star Wars: Zero Company will be officially revealed during a live panel on Saturday, April 19th. The local time will be 4:30 PM in Japan, which places the time in the US at 12:30 AM PT and 3:30 AM ET. Of course, it will be available on Youtube later, should you be asleep at a normal time like a normal well adjusted adult… Unlike me…
