Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, the newest title from Arkham developer Rocksteady is finally available provided you have purchased a version with early access and live in New Zealand. If you don’t live there don’t worry about spoilers, they can no longer played either after the game was taken offline due to a bizarre bug that gives story progression once you log in.
A tweet released this morning from Rocksteady stated that the company is “aware that a number of players are currently experiencing an issue whereby upon logging into the game for the first time, they have full story completion.” The studio has taken the game offline to perform maintenance to fix this issue, with a wider rollout of the title looming ever closer.
They additionally stated to expect the game down for “several hours” and that “during this time the game will be unavailable.” This is the first indicator of the game’s always online nature, something that becomes a major bummer given the studio’s attempts to focus players on the elements carried over from the game’s single-player predecessors. This also indicates this might be another game that will vanish completely, should the live-service components not turn a significant enough profit.
The saving grace here is that only a few regions as of yet have access to the title. According to Rocksteady, these issues should also be resolved before the game is released worldwide. According to early previews of Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League the story offered some of the best moments in the game, so assumably being locked out of progression by this bug, as well as any trophy or achievement progress, is not a great first look at that titles full release.
Another bad look was the fact that Journalists were unable to access the game before day one for reviews. This includes me, which is why I have yet to work on a review for the title. I was also provided with a code for Persona 3 Reload, which I am working on now, which means most likely we will not have a review for Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League for at least a week, possibly two.
