Only a week after Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 was released to mixed reviews following its lengthy and troubled development, it appears the bloodsucking franchise is about to take yet another hit. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt developer Sharkmob has announced that the spin-off of the franchise, which launched on PC in 2021, will shut down its servers in 2026, marking its final death.
For fans of the game, including myself, this should not come as a surprise. The game suffered low player counts since its initial launch, leading to the end of active development on the title in 2023, around a year after the game’s full release across PC and PS5. At the time, Sharkmob stated they planned to keep the servers live as long as there was an “active player base and community,” which is no longer the case. The servers will officially come offline on April 28th, 2026, a single day after the four-year anniversary of the game’s release. In fairness, this is a longer stretch of life than many live-service games released.
In an official statement from Sharkmob, posted to the game’s website, it was stated:
During these past 4 years, we have been thrilled to see your passion and dedication to Bloodhunt. Your feedback, creativity, and enthusiasm for our game has meant the world to us. However, despite you, our amazing community, the current player population has reached a level where keeping the servers running is no longer sustainable.
This post goes on to state that the in-game shop featured in Bloodhunt will officially be taken offline immediately; however, any currency you still have in your wallet on the game can be spent until the servers are officially brought offline. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt was a Battle Royale game set in the VTM universe, taking place in the city of Prague. Players could drop in solo or with friends, playing as multiple vampire clans as they battle across the city, both on the ground on the rooftops, to be the last vampire standing.
