Insomniac Games, the developer behind the highly anticipated Wolverine, has set some expectations concerning the upcoming State of Play event broadcast. The State of Play is set to be held on February 12, at 2 PM Pacific/ 5 PM Eastern time, and with over 60 minutes of content to show, many fans were hoping that Wolverine was set to get a showing or potentially even a release date.
This, however, looks like it will not be the case, as Insomniac posted a response to the question of when we would get additional information, appearing to rule out the State of Play completely. To be fair, the response was short, addressing the question “WHEN MORE INFO ?” with the response “Spring 2026.”
Spring is almost upon us, so we could be due for more info soon, but with the State of Play outside of that, we can probably rule a new trailer or gameplay out. With Wolverine being one of the biggest PlayStation titles due out this year, we could see it receive its own dedicated State of Play, similar to Ghost of Yotei last year.
Only recently did we get news that another Marvel superhero, Daredevil, will appear in the Wolverine game. Since Insomniac dropped this hit, many fans were confident that this was to build some anticipation for an upcoming announcement, with the State of Play. An additional leak suggested that Insomniac’s previous Marvel game, Spider-Man 2, is set to join the PlayStation Plus Extra catalog later this month. This news might be announced during the State of Play, but its timing seemed to suggest plans to begin building hype for Wolverine, presumably along with a new trailer.
Marvel’s Wolverine is currently scheduled to release in the fall of 2026. Either way, we don’t have much longer to wait for more news, even if it’s a bit longer than was expected.
