Microsoft has announced that its annual Xbox Games Showcase will be held on June 7. Immediately following the event, the company has also announced that it will be holding a dedicated event that will focus on Gears of War: E-Day, which makes sense given the anticipated titles’ absence from several events held by Microsoft this year.
Asha Sharma, the new Head of Xbox at Microsoft, following the departure of Phil Spencer in February, announced the event via social media today. She stated:
Sunday, June 7 is locked in Xbox Games Showcase 2026 is almost here with a deep dive into Gears of War: E-Day Direct.
In my first month, I heard clearly that our community values Xbox FanFest. As part of the return of Xbox, we made the decision to bring it back to LA to recognize the players who’ve been with us over the years. Looking forward to celebrating together!
Microsoft has continued to hold this June timeslot, something that was previously part of the now-defunct E3 Gaming convention in L.A. While Xbox is the first to announce such a summer event, typically both PlayStation and Nintendo hold similar events, with much of the Summer showcases centered around Geoff Keighley’s Summer Games Fest event.
Previously this year, during the Xbox Developer Direct, we got a much closer look at another Xbox title slated to release this year, Fable. Before this, Fable was probably the most likely candidate to get a Dedicated Event at the summer event, but of the big first-part titles in development, Gears of War: E-Day was announced in 2024 and still remains light on details as to what we can expect. Previous titles that received a Dedicated Direct include The Outer Worlds 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and Starfield.
There are a few announced titles we might assume will show up during this event. Inxile’s Clockwork Revolution has made several appearances during the summer showcase but remains without a release date. A Remake of Halo: Combat Evolved is in development at 343 Industries, which is slated for this year with little other information. Given Microsoft’s stealth release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remake last year, we could see the same here. Last year’s event featured more than 30 games, as well as the Xbox ROG Ally handheld device.
The Xbox Games Showcase will be held at 10 AM Pacific/ 1 PM Eastern / and 6 PM UK on June 7, 2026.
