Publisher Fellow Traveller, along with developer Sunset Visitor, has announced that popular indie game 1000xRESIST is finally set to release on consoles a year and a half after its initial release on PC and Nintendo Switch in May of last year. Set to release on November 4, it will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. In addition, it was announced that it will be released as a Day 1 title on Xbox Game Pass.
Alongside the release of 1000xRESIST on consoles, the game will be receiving enhanced language support, with the addition of Brazilian Portuguese, French, and Korean localization options. Upon its release last year on PC, the game received a large amount of praise, especially for its narrative and storytelling, winning a Peabody Award in the process and being nominated for a Hugo Award.
An official blurb of the story describes the story as “Set 1,000 years in the future, in 1000xRESIST you become a Watcher named Iris as the end of humanity is nigh. After a mysterious alien race arrives, referred to as the Occupants, bringing with it a terrible disease, humanity is all but wiped out. The survivors head underground and begin to serve the ALLMOTHER who rules this new society.”
1000xResist was developed by Sunset Visitor, which is a four-person team based out of Vancouver, Canada, with the team coming from backgrounds in Theatre, New Media, and Performative arts. A prototype for the game began development in 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic that affected the world, which prevented the team from touring as part of their profession and facilitated a switch for them to video game development. The title was officially announced in 2022, with a Steam Next Fest demo being released in 2023.
