CD Projekt States There Are “No Plans” For Further Cyberpunk 2077 Content

CD Projekt has stated that there are “No Plans for further or additional Cyberpunk 2077 content beyond the 2023 expansion, Phantom Liberty. This news comes amid reports that the studio is currently developing a secret expansion for its 2015 title, The Witcher III: Wild Hunt, which is rumored to be developed by Fool’s Theory, the studio behind The Witcher Remake.

The Polish studio responded to a fan’s question on social media, directed at the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account. In response to a question regarding whether the FPS action RPG would get any secret new DLC, the company stated, “We have no plans for additional DLCs or expansions. If anything changes, we will inform you all!”

Of course, this left fans with some disappointment, given there will be a significant length of time before players can return to Night City and the world of Cyberpunk when the sequel is released, currently in pre-development as CD Projekt Red focuses its resources on The Witcher IV, which will see Ciri take the lead, replacing previous lead character Geralt of Rivia.

Cyberpunk 2, or whatever it will eventually be named, seems to be a significant way off, and there’s nothing at present that will ease that wait in the pipeline. Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty was considered a capstone to years of patches, correcting the poorly received launch of the game in 2020. The title went on to win Best Ongoing Game at the VGA Awards that year, underscoring the team’s commitment to improving the game over the years. The team has released a few patches since then, despite earlier statements that work on the game was complete; never say never.

The Witcher III: Wild Hunt DLC is rumored to be released later this year and is said to be set in a Dune-style location. CD Projekt Red has cautioned fans not to expect The Witcher 4 before 2027 at the earliest, with plans to release a 5th and 6th entry in the series over a six-year timeframe following that.
