Virtue and a Sledgehammer is an aggressive game about rebelling against an inevitable synthetic future with a just-revealed launch of October 27.
Recently announced at the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct, Virtue and a Sledgehammer debuted a new trailer and its highly anticipated release date. Causing a splash (or wreck) earlier this year with its visceral demo, its tentative 2026 launch left many of us wondering when it would actually come out. Out October 27 for PC via Steam, rage-filled players won’t have to wait much longer.
The latest 30-second trailer does not waste a second, showing to the sound of an upsetting alarm and thumping electronic music a person tearing through robots and buildings alike. The phrase in a massive, eye-catching font stating “A machine will never hate itself enough to become better” gives a pretty clear idea as to what to expect for the upcoming rage-room-inspired experience.
From a third-person perspective, Virtue and a Sledgehammer deals with unresolved family trauma only faced through violence. Swinging the sledgehammer satisfyingly destroying everything in your path, the game’s core mechanic is is worth having a feel for.

It left a lasting mark in our preview, stating, “Virtue with a Sledgehammer is the first time in a while that a game has let me feel that rage’s onset and its nervous receding waters instead of just staging it all for me as spectacle. Reflecting on the question, I don’t know how far I’d go, but I know that it already feels bad going as far as I did. When the game gets its full release later this year, I know I’ll be going farther still. “
Virtue and a Sledgehammer still has a playable demo available to have a taste of its anger-filled narrative. For the rest of us who cannot wait to channel our rage virtually, the game is coming October 27 on PC via Steam.
