    Stellar Blade Demo Releases Friday

Sony officially announced Stellar Blade, their upcoming hack-and-slash action game, will receive a demo on Friday, March 29th at 7 am PDT / 2 pm GMT. This follows speculation that a demo was coming, partially fueled by ShiftUp, the developer behind the game, accidentally revealing it through the PlayStation store before quickly removing it.

This demo will take place at the beginning of the game, running up to the first boss fight. For placers concerned that they will need to replay this narrative, or a potentially challenging boss fight over again at launch, the save carry will carry over to the full game. It is important to note, according to the PlayStation Blog, that the saved data must be stored on the PlayStation 5 itself.

The official statement on the PlayStation Blog says:

The demo takes place from the very beginning of the game when Eve, a member of the 7th Airborne Squad is sent to Earth on a mission to reclaim the planet from the Naytiba, up to the first boss fight. This first stage will include the tutorial phase to help you familiarize yourself with basic combat features as you explore post-war Eidos 7, a human city now infested by the Naytiba, giving you an early grasp of gameplay mechanics that will serve you throughout the game’s story.

    It goes on to state:

We also have a little surprise included for players who complete the first stage.

Shift Up Corporation has also stated that the demo, along with the full game, features voice acting in a vast array of languages, including Korean, English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and Latin Spanish, and text in Korean, English (U.S.), French, Italian, German, Spanish, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish, Arabic, Turkish, Thai, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.

Recently Stellar Blade has become the latest game in the debate about sexuality in video games. Eve, the lead protagonist, wears a full body to suit, with outfit changes that seem to present similarly provocative outfits. The title’s director Hyung-Tae Kim has stood by the design choices, stating:

I don’t want to see something normal; I want to see something more ideal. I think that is very important in a form of entertainment. This is, after all, entertainment targeted for adults.

A particular suit in the game, designed to look skin-like has become particularly popular online. This suit, funny enough, also disables features for Eve making gameplay and combat harder while it is equipped. This will most likely not deter people from using it, but it should be funny to watch when those videos start hitting online.

Stellar Blade will be released on April 26th, 2024. It will be available exclusively for the PlayStation 5.
