Pokémon Presents Slated For Next Month According To Pokémon Go Datamine

A recent data mine of the Mobile Spinoff of the Pokémon series, Pokémon Go, seems to have confirmed that The Pokémon Company plans to hold a Pokémon presents event in February of this year.

Established dataminer @mattyoukhana_ revealed on X(formerly Twitter) that Pokémon Go code is now referring to an upcoming event connected with “Pokémon Presents 2025”. Additionally, this text goes on to suggest that this event will specifically land on Pokémon Day, which happens to be February 27th.

In fairness, this isn’t a shocker as major events from the studio have fallen on this day before, but given what we know about Nintendo‘s plans this year, this might prove to be an important event nonetheless. While Nintendo Switch 2 hasn’t received an official reveal yet, the company has made it clear that it is coming this year. Accessory Maker Genki has also been showcasing mockups for Switch 2 accessories at CES 2025, with suggestions we will see the platform before the end of March.

Scarlet and Violet were released in 2022, the last mainline entries in the series to see release. Since the mainline franchise usually has 3 years between releases, and are often announced during a Pokémon Presents event in February like Scarlet and Violet were, it seems likely we will be getting that announcement here. The question of if these games will be released on both The Switch and Switch 2, or only one is the big unknown hanging in the air.

Another game that could be present during this event is Pokemon Legends Z-A, which was announced alongside Scarlet and Violet in 2022 but has remained quiet since. A follow-up to the successful action and real-time oriented Spin-off Pokemon Legend Arceus we know it will make some changes over its predecessor. It will move the narrative from the feudal setting to a modern one, focusing on the Paris-inspired Lumiose City in the Kalos region where X and Y were set. This title has been slated for 2025 already so, barring some big issue that requires delay, it will most likely appear here.

Pokémon Presents events are typically 30 minutes long and go live sometime in the morning via Nintendo on YouTube.
