Fairgames Developer Haven Studios Sees Founder Exit After Poor External Tests

Jade Raymond, founder of Haven Studios, has departed the studio, with reports suggesting their debut game, Fairgames, has been delayed following an external test, marking another hurdle to PlayStation when it comes to their live-service titles. According to Bloomberg, Raymond exited the company several weeks after the external test, which has been reported not to have been received positively, seeing the title that was due out in the fall of 2025, but is now planned for Spring 2026.

    According to Bloomberg:

PlayStation leadership didn’t give Haven staff a reason for her departure, but it came several weeks after an external test of Haven’s first game, the online shooter Fairgames, according to people with knowledge of the matter. Some developers at Haven were concerned about how the game was received and its progress, said the people, who asked not to be identified because they aren’t authorized to speak publicly.

Unlike other Live-Service titles from Sony that have recently been canceled, it appears Sony will continue to support Haven Software for now, with regard to Fairgames. The studio will now have co-heads Marie-Eve Danis and Pierre-François Sapinski.

Last year, Concord was released by Sony across PlayStation 5 and PC, seeing numbers so low that it led to the game being taken offline after two weeks, with an estimated cost to develop the title being around $400 million, potentially make the title one of the biggest failures of a live-service games of all time.

Because of this, Sony has moved away from the previous live-service plans outlined under the former Sony Interactive Entertainment Lead Jim Ryan. This has led to the cancellation of several planned live-service games, including multiple yet-to-be-announced titles. Even prior to the shuttering of Concord, Sony had previously cancelled Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Multiplayer, with the studio now fully invested in the development of single-player title Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

This isn’t to say that Sony doesn’t have Live Service aspirations, but this feels in par with their attempts so far. Bungie is currently developing an extraction shooter, Marathon, which is also having issues as Bungie battles additional accusations of plagiarism. Additionally, Sony recently acquired a new studio teamLFG, whose debut game will be a live-service game.
