Produced by the VR Games Showcase, a new endeavor entirely dedicated to promoting VR titles, big and small, comes the VR Developer Direct. A more personal, human approach to the bombastic “World Premiere” than the rest of Summer Games Fest, loud trailers showcases that have accustomed viewers in favor of a candid conversation with game creators. Featuring Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow, Reach, and Roboquest VR, the event delved into what’s happening behind the scenes at each of these studios, offering many interesting insights as they prepare to release these immersive experiences later this year.

Reach
First revealed on the Future Games Show, Reach is the latest release of nDreams. Taking
their previous core concepts of blockbuster, cinematic action seen on Fracked, Synapse,
and Vendetta Forever, Reach aims for new heights with a promising sci-fi narrative that does
not shy away from its Uncharted and Tomb Raider inspirations. Based on gesture-based
movement, Reach’s acrobatic gameplay offers a fully realized body that behaves
realistically. Developed by nDreams Elevation, Reach looks to elevate what is possible in the
VR medium, once again.

Roboquest VR
Flat2VR is an ambitious studio that, as its name suggests, takes flatscreen games and deftly
adapts them to virtual reality. This developer has already delivered thrilling results, such as
Surviving Mars Pioneer and now Roboquest VR, as the VR Developer Direct shared.
Originally launched as an Early Access title in 2020, Roboquest is now in the process of
being presented as a virtual reality title with all the bells and whistles that come with it. Rail-
grinding, sliding, and shooting are all intuitively adapted to VR to make it a true conversion
instead of a simple port. Their part of the presentation wrapped up with a brief glimpse into
the future of their output, with games like Out of Sight VR, Postal 2 VR, and Wrath: Aeon of
Ruin VR.

Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow
Last but not least, Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow stole hearts and minds with its reveal in the
latest State of Play, thanks to its dormant IP coming back reimagined for VR. Rewarding
exploration with a richly layered city full of secrets on each level, Vertigo Games & Maze
Theory showed an authentic reinvention of the Thief franchise, committed to a stealthy
approach that will even bring the original voice of the legendary character, Garret,t for those
yearning for that classic experience.
All games featured in the VR Developer Direct have a late 2025 release window, with the
Meta Quest, PS VR2, and SteamVR platforms in mind. The core VR Games Showcase will
debut a brand new event in August with trailers, announcements, and world premieres.
