Arc System Works, the developer behind Guilty Gear Strive, has announced that they will be holding a Summer Showcase event where the developer plans to make a multitude of announcements. They have additionally stated that this event will offer a look at the future of their Guilty Gear Franchise, which could mean a showcase of upcoming characters coming to Strive; however, this timing does correlate with the usual life span of games in the franchise, potentially setting up a successor in the popular fighting series. There is still one character left to release during the titles Season Pass 4, Lucy from the popular anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, who could also receive a showcase of her moveset.

The event will be held on June 26th and will begin at 8:50 PM EST/ 5:50 PM PT. It will be watchable through the Arc System Works official YouTube channel. Among the projects teased to be shown, the unannounced project from Guilty Gear’s Ishiwatari Taisuke was teased to be announced finally. Additionally, that day, Capcom also announced that they will be holding a Summer Showcase as well, which will air earlier and will showcase titles like Pragmata and Resident Evil Requiem, both recently shown during Summer Games Fest.

During PlayStation’s State of Play event, Arc System Works announced that one of their new projects, entitled Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls. It is a collaboration between Arc, Sony, and Marvel and will feature characters from the Marvel universe in a fast-paced 4v4 tag system fighting game that bears some similarities to previous games from the developer like Dragon Ball Fighterz. There will most likely be something showcased for the title at this event.

As for what else will be shown, many fans have had some speculations. A new BlazBlue or Dragon Ball FighterZ game, both franchises having been popular in the competitive fighting game circuits and featured at EVO, are projects that fans are hoping for. Earlier this year, BlazBlue made a return in the form of a Roguelike named BlazBlue Entropy Effect, making it poised to be up for a new fighting title, given the series is best known for that. Arc Stem Works, best known for fighting games, has also been involved with publishing games like Wayforward’s River City Girls 2, opening up the potential of titles that could receive a showing during the event.

Fans of the studio will have to wait only a few short days to get concrete answers as to what Arc System Works plans to showcase during their Summer Showcase. No matter what they do, though, the studio usually delivers.
