Sony Interactive Entertainment, the buildup to EVO, has given more details for their upcoming Fightstick peripheral, known now as the FlexStrike. Previously known as Project Defiant, the wireless controller was showcased during Sony’s June State of Play, during which it was also announced that Sony was partnering with Arc System Works on a 4v4 fighting game known as Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, based on the Marvel Universe, which should be a great game to use the Flexstrike with when it releases next year.

Now, in the lead-up to the extremely popular fighting game tournament that is owned by Sony and will be held in Las Vegas on August 1-3, 2025, new specs and features for this controller have been released in a new tech trailer featuring the controller.

The FlexStrike will be compatible with both the PlayStation 5 and PC, via either a wired connection or a wireless connection using Sony’s PlayStation Link connection. In addition, the controller will both a low latency between both connection options that will offer seamless gameplay. Sony will also have a sling carrying case for the controller to allow for easy transportation to tournaments or simply for travel, though this is sold separately.

Sony also announced that the FlexStrike will be released in 2026, which coincides with the release window currently presented for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls. While there has been no word, it wouldn’t be shocking to see both released within the same month or even the same day, given the close proximity Sony has already given both. The FlexStrike controller will be on display at EVO in both the Fight Stick Museum and at the Arc System Works booth, the latter will feature a playable demo of Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, which will feature six playable characters.
