The ROG Xbox Ally, a version of the existing ROG Ally designed for Xbox gamers as the platform’s first third-party handheld device, has seemingly appeared online with a release date. These listings suggest that there is not much longer to wait before consumers can get their hands on the handheld, indicating it will be released on October 16, just over two months from now. This News comes via Dealabs’ billbil-Kun, through a listing on a European retail site.
Previously, Dealabs had reported that the device would be available for preorder on August 20, with the cheaper version being €599 and the higher-end X version being €899, respectively. U.S. pricing for the device has yet to be confirmed at this point. Dealabs has also cautioned that while they verified with sources this date, they can only confirm at this time that these are accurate for European retail, and not yet for retail outside of this region. Going off of Nintendo’s recent release on the Nintendo Switch 2, the product was announced in early April, with Preorders going live slightly after this point, and finally released in June for all regions. While comparing these might be apples and oranges, this leak does seem to follow the current trend for release.
Microsoft is currently set to let gamers try the device during Gamescom 2025, which is held in Cologne, Germany. Alongside it will be a demo for the long-awaited sequel to Hollow Knight, Hollow Knight: Silksong. While it remains to be seen if we will finally get a release date for the title, Xbox President Sarah Bond has stated that SilkSong would be “available at launch and in Game Pass when Ally releases later this year”. Developer Team Cherry has only clarified that they expect to release the game prior to the holidays, but this leak suggests a two-month window for a possible release date. It is possible we get a date, finally, during Opening Night Live with Geoff Khighley.
