Indie World Showcase returned March 3rd, 2026, announcing a slew of creative, independent titles for the Nintendo Switch consoles.
Nintendo’s presentations have been quite active over the past month, with its Partner Showcase shy of a month ago and now the Indie World Showcase just streamed today. While the fervent fanbase wonders when the original Nintendo Direct will appear to reveal more exclusives of its shiny new console, the Switch 2, the lineup of indies shown here more than makes up for the gap in between big releases. From day-one shadowdrops to ports of highly acclaimed video games making their way to the portable hybrid, there really is something for everyone.
As an indie advocate, this was an exciting showcase featuring some of the most creative and personal titles to air on any current gaming event. Here is everything that was announced at the March 2026 Indie World Showcase:
Denshattack!

Out June 17 exclusively for Switch 2, Denshattack! is a wild action-adventure platformer where you take the role of a train. You read that correctly. A train. Flipping, grinding, and jumping across the tracks in a heavily stylized and dystopian Japan, you will fight against weird bosses fitting the game’s unique premise. A demo is available now, and the full game will feature an exclusive in-game skin for the system.
My Little Puppy

Available May 29, My Little Puppy is a heartfelt ode to fur babies everywhere. Playing as a Welsh Corgi in pupperino heaven, our protagonist gets a whiff of his previous owner and embarks on the journey of an, err, afterlifetime. A story of relationships, farewells, and reunions, this one is sure to pull at your heartstrings, especially if you own or have fond memories of those cute companions that brighten our days. Special costumes will be available for your corgi for extra charm. A physical version will release in June.
Heave Ho 2

With a “Summer 2026” release window, Heave Ho 2 is a chaotic, made-for-co-op game where you swing with your arms across increasingly complex puzzle levels. Cooperation is key in this one. Just by looking at the trailer, it reminded me of Biped 2, another highly enjoyable co-op game that is made for hilarious high jinks with friends. Published by Devolver Digital, they always have a great eye for out-of-left-field, lasting experiences.
Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault

Out now in Early Access on PC, Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault was announced to release on Nintendo Switch 2 sometime in 2026 with no specific date. The spiffy sequel to Moonlighter, where the first one had pixel art graphics, Moonlighter 2 makes the jump to 3D and so many more bells and whistles. Managing a story by day and dungeon crawling to earn the artifacts to sell by night, it has an engaging gameplay loop to slowly become the biggest store in town. More customization, skills, and expansive options are expected.
Woodo

This cute puzzle game with a dazzling art style has you placing objects on handcrafted dioramas to make them come to life. Offering a calming vibe as a gentle narrator accompanies your journey, Woodo will take advantage of the mouse feature of the Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con to solve each puzzle with maximum comfort. It releases for both Switch systems this summer.
Minishoot’ Adventures

Out now for both Switch consoles, Minishoot’ Adventures is a twin-stick shooter with inventive mechanics to keep the fun going throughout. One of the most highly rated games when it originally released in 2024, it was favorably compared due to having “Zelda-like” progression. With a focus on exploration and improving your ship to fight tougher bosses each time, the shoot-em-up action does not stop at any moment in this Indie World Showcase shadowdrop.
The Midnight Walk

Recognized for its Tim Burton claymation look, The Midnight Walk is a dark fantasy adventure. Protagonist Potboy must light the fire in this eerie but emotional adventure that mixes stealth and exploration to great effect. The winner of many awards when it first launched early last year, The Midnight Walk launches March 26 on Nintendo Switch 2.
Rotwood

Another unexpected shadowdrop: Rotwood is a beat-em-up Switch 2 console exclusive. Boasting a striking animated art style and flashy combat, the goal, as with most roguelite games, is to go dungeon crawling and slowly but surely elevate your skills. Playable solo or in co-op with up to three friends, the chaotic scenes lend themselves to bigger challenges as you learn each enemy and boss’s distinct patterns to finish a run.
Mixtape

Mixtape is one of my most anticipated games of 2026, as I wrote in this article in early January. A defiant coming-of-age narrative, immaculate soundtrack, and riveting sequences of the titular teenager’s greatest hits, it’s set to hit right in the feels. Published by indie darling Annapurna and developed by Beethoven and Dinosaur, if their previous ode to music, The Artful Escape, is any indication, there is much to look forward to. Mixtape will release on the Switch 2 on May 7.
Blighted

From the studio that brought us Guacamelee! and Nobody Saves the World: Blighted is an action RPG based in a nightmarish Western setting. Out this fall, Blighted has single-player and either couch co-op or online modes. Explore a psychedelic world threatened by an overpowering Blight, and defeat dangerous bosses in the process.
Deadzone: Rogue

An FPS roguelike, Deadzone: Rogue offers fast-paced shooting runs solo or with friends. Giving the option to use the Switch 2 mouse controls, the precise gameplay of Deadzone: Rogue hides a secret of its overarching plot as you make your way through each incursion. Rich with loot, enemy variety, weapons, and skills, there is much to expect come March 17 on the Nintendo Switch 2. The Indie World Showcase announced that pre-orders are available now.
At this point in the Indie World Showcase, a montage of other indies making their way to the Nintendo ecosystem made an appearance. Outbound (April 23, demo out now), Unrailed 2: Back on Track (May), TOEM 2 (Summer), Ratatan (July 16), inKONBINI: One Store. Many Stories (May 30), and Grave Seasons (Summer) were the games announced in this section.

At the risk of playing favorites, the dark twist on cozy farming Grave Seasons, the Japanese convenience store sim inKONBINI, and photography-based TOEM 2 are some of my most personally anticipated games.
Blue Prince

Saving it for the “one last thing,” and certainly deserved, the award-winning Blue Prince is out now for the Nintendo Switch 2. Part of my top 10 games of 2025, this genre-defying roguelike puzzle game tasks young Simon with finding room 46 in a daily changing mansion of 45 rooms to claim his inheritance. A truly mind-blowing experience that is as difficult to wrap your head around as it is to truly ever finish, a bit of tenacity will be required to discover every secret that there is to find in Mt. Holly. Taking advantage of mouse controls, Blue Prince is out now for Nintendo Switch 2.
And there you have it. A stellar lineup this Indie World Showcase; I, for one, am excited for these releases to find a new audience of passionate players. With 2026 already shaping up to be one for the books, I will see you on March 12 for the Future Games Show Spring Showcase 2026, the Galaxies Showcase on April 16, and beyond.
