Xbox has unveiled a new 8-strike system today, aimed to curtain offensive or bad behavior on the Xbox platform. This system is meant to clear up any confusion about how Xbox enforces its community standards, as well as allow players to track any enforceable actions made against their accounts. In an interview with the Verge, Xbox player services corporate vice president Dave McCarthy stated: This is all about player transparency. We didn’t have a way to show our players what their standing was in our community. And this makes it completely clear. In this new system, players that violate the…
This preview contains spoilers for Alone In The Dark: Prologue. People, especially Resident Evil fans, might forget that there was a time in the industry before the mainstay seminal horror series. In a year when Resident Evil 4 was remade to universal acclaim, and the beloved Dead Space did pretty much the same, there is another remake coming soon and it should have more eyes on it. Alone In The Dark was first released in 1992, predating the original Resident Evil by 4 years, and helped lay the pivotal groundwork for the zombie survival game to thrive. Unlike Capcoms flagship…
Directly following Square Enix releasing Final Fantasy XV after its 10-year development hell there were several interviews with the game’s former director. Among them came the revelation that after the Hugh Jackman-led musical adaptation Les Misérables hit theaters in 2012 there was a brief period where Tetsuya Nomura considered turning the game into a musical. This idea was later scrapped because Final Fantasy can apparently be anything except a musical. This might sound like an odd pairing in theory but it was coming from the guy that dabbled in it the concept once before back in Kingdom Hearts II. Final…
The video game adaptation Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, based on the five part miniseries of the same name was given an official announcement during the THQ Nordic event, showcased on August 11th. This is the first official confirmation of the project since it was teased earlier this year by Paramount, the parent company of Nickelodeon who in turns owns the TMNT brand. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NX3iz_aoEg Rounding out the slate of games being showcased by THQ Nordic, this trailer differed in that very little was actually showcased. Set to a Taiko drum beat the trailer features four candles over a…
Developer: Night School Studio Publisher: Netflix Release Date: July 12th, 2023 Released For: Playstation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and Windows, IOS, and Android Oxenfree wasn’t just a great game, it was a surprising one that came out of left field to become an indie darling. It also helps that the game was a brilliant coming-of-age story draped in well-crafted horror. Despite my being more than excited for this long-awaited sequel, one look at the original and you can see that Night School Studios set an almost impossibly high bar for the game. That bar is one that Oxenfree II: Lost Signals ultimately…
Developer: Capcom Publisher: Capcom Release Date: July 14th, 2023 Released For: Playstation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and Windows Live Service, for like of any better way to say this, is here to stay in the video game industry. With the growing costs of development and a shifting landscape of constant acquisitions of course every publisher, Even Capcom, is chasing that one game that can financially offset their others. Exoprimal, unfortunately, is not that game. To be fair, I wasn’t hyped for Exoprimal. In actuality, I had actually forgotten that the game was still coming until it was only a…
Going into the Savage Gauntlet mode of Capcoms’ Exprimal, I had tempered expectations. The core game became a chore far earlier than it should have and I honestly couldn’t imagine what a PvPvE game about slaying hoards of dinosaurs needs to propel itself forward. Unfortunately, Savage Gauntlet is not a good case study for moving in the right direction. To start at the beginning, the mode was touted as an endgame mode. Anybody who has ever played an MMO, or any game with armor stats and levels should know what that is supposed to mean. We are talking about high-stat and high-level…
For people that have yet to make the jump to the newest generation of consoles but were still hoping to experience Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the continuation of Kal Kestis’s story from Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, you will soon be able to. During an earnings briefing for Publisher EA, it was revealed that Respawn Entertainment is currently in the ‘early stages’ of porting the sequel to the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One. Jedi Survivor launched for the PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and PC in April of this year to positive reviews. Despite this, the PC version suffered from multiple issues, something…
Nintendo might be eying a second-half 2024 release window for the successor to the Nintendo Switch if a new report is to be believed. Sources close to the unannounced system talked with VGC and stated that developer kits for the console are now in the hands of partnered studios, with the release window of later 2024 intended to ensure Nintendo has plenty of units for its launch. According to these sources, the follow-up to the switch will remain a hybrid console intended to be played both on the go as well as connected to a tv. In an effort to cut costs, it…
Good news for Xbox players who have wanted to play the extremely popular MMORPG game Final Fantasy XIV Online, the game will finally be coming to the Xbox Platform after 14 years. This announcement came today during the Final Fantasy XIV Online Fan Fest event, which saw Xbox’s Phil Spencer take to the stage with Square Enix President Takashi Kiryu. The game was stated to be coming in the Spring of 2024, which will give them a decent amount of time to catch up on all the content currently available before the fifth expansion, Dawntrail, releases that Summer. The game will feature faster loading…
