The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion shadow dropped two days before Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and the expectation was that the rerelease of one of the most beloved RPG series of all time would completely overshadow the release of an experimental turn-based RPG. We all know this; we were there. In actuality, there was a bigger, more pronounced dichotomy playing out between the two titles, one that was very quickly glossed over…

Sometimes, simplistic experiences make for the best, which could very well sum up what you can expect with Double Dagger Studio’s debut game, Little Kitty, Big City, which pretty much gives away the premise right in its title. You play as a little kitty that needs to explore the big city, there really isn’t much more to it. This doesn’t detract from the experience, though, as the city getting lost in the city is exactly the charm of the experience. You want to get engrossed. The journey, not the destination, is what makes the game an experience worth having. The…

Where the player completes the opening hours of Spirit of the North 2, when the stakes are fully established before the tranquility of platforming that had come before, there is this fade to black moment. Having not played the previous entry despite having bought it on a summer sale, what had come before had set a very convincing and straightforward tone. You play as a fox, explore beautiful lands, and then hit the next roadblock and need to find your way through. Simply Enough and reminded me of Okami. That being said, the first few hours I had invested in…
