The Like A Dragon series continues to be a series that can retread itself with relatively expert ease, and nowhere is this ability showcased better than in their latest outing with Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. Despite the biggest promise made in RGG Studios’ latest outing being a return to the Honolulu location that the players no doubt spent hours, perhaps collective days in, it is easy to think that the game would fall into the funk of feeling like a rehash. Indeed, much of the map remains the same, the minigames for the most part return untouched,…

Toys ‘R’ Us filed for bankruptcy in 2017 before returning in a limited capacity years later. Even before that though the company didn’t have the relevant position it used to when video games were considered toys, rather than an industry. After all, it was over 50 years ago that Nintendo decided to market its home entertainment system in the boy’s aisle of the toy section, influencing not the trajectory of gaming that remained well into PlayStation’s life cycle of gaming, some might say it remains. For a young me, Toy’s ‘R’ Us was the place to go if you wanted…

*Disclaimer* I did not receive compensation in any way for my opinions held within. NHK World News has become a near and dear source of enjoyment in my life over the past few years, and while I can get sucked into almost anything on there, one show has started standing out. In it, a documentary crew goes to a random place like a 24-hour laundry, or a cafe, right now while I am writing this they are talking about a shrine that takes care of stray cats. For 72 hours they document these things, the people that come and go,…

One of the benefits of getting to review games is the inherent need to push past any trepidation you have, any daunting mechanics, to reach a point where you feel you can be fair and accurate with the title. I remember enjoying the first Citizen Sleeper, loving the idea of it and wanting to play more and more of it, but unfortunately fizzling out on the fear I might ruin my run at any second. Honestly, any game with choices and chances might see me stop playing for any reason despite how much I’m enjoying it on the sole basis…

Sony has announced they will be overhauling the way they handle PC game releases, at least for several single-player games the Publisher has brought to the platform. Sony had previously tried to force membership to their PlayStation Network through account setups, something that received pushback from gamers in the community. In the case of Helldivers 2 for instance it was forgone for release only to be required months later, a situation that even caused some players to lose access to the game in certain regions. In the case of multiplayer games, there has been at least some understanding of the…
