Battlefield 6 servers will be ready for the title’s official release this Friday, one of the producers on the project has made clear. Battlefield Lead Producer at DICE, David Sirland, replied to a question via Twitter about the server readiness for the game, confidently asserting that it “Should be!” ready for release. He went on to say that “We are planning for that, of course, and open beta helped gauge the interest as well.
He mentioned the beta being helpful to help gauge player interest, which was absolutely the case when it was released earlier this year in August. The Battlefield 6 Beta quickly became the biggest beta release in the history of the franchise, hitting a peak concurrent user count of 521,079 on just the Steam platform, which resulted in lengthy queues. Reactions to the beta were also largely positive, so while we cannot know with certainty that the full release will achieve such high numbers, the outlook looks good for high player counts. This is mixed with a more tepid response to this year’s Call of Duty title places Battlefield 6 in a good position.
Battlefield 6 is set to release on October 10 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. Season 1 for the title is set to kick off later this month on October 28, and will bring with it new maps, guns, vehicles, as well as additional updates scheduled for November 18 and December 9. Alongside the first season, the Battle Royale mode is scheduled to release as well. Developers have stated plans to keep the game more grounded compared to other games in this genre, suggesting they don’t plan to release cartoonish skins like Beavis and Butthead for the war shooter, as compared to their competitor, Call of Duty.
