Bethesda has announced it will hold a showcase on October 23, the same day that Fallout Day is held every year. This date holds significance in the Fallout universe, as on October 23, 2077, in the Fallout Timeline, bombs were dropped across the world, leading to the Great War that, despite only lasting for two hours, left the world irradiated and humans in vaults for years, and led to around 10 games so far and a TV show. The Fallout Day Broadcast will be streamed live on October 23 at 10 am PT / 1 pm ET on Twitch, YouTube, and Steam, with a FalloutforHope post-show preceding directly after.
In their social media post, Bethesda has stated that the event will showcase “the latest news about our existing Fallout games, community celebrations, and upcoming fan events.” Despite this outline, no mention has been given about what fans can expect, but there has already been some rampant speculation and hope about what fans will see during this event. One such hope is a first look at a new mainline entry in the series, Fallout 5, which Bethesda has confirmed is planned, though nothing else is known. Following the release of Starfield, Bethesda has moved its resources to The Elder Scrolls VI as its next title, with the game currently in development.
There have also been rumors of Fallout titles receiving The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, with a Fallout 3 Remake leaking in 2023, with such projects remaining quiet since then. More than likely, though, given the news about the existing game, we will get something related to the franchise’s multiplayer title, Fallout 76, which recently announced the Burning Spring update, as well as the inclusion of the popular The Ghoul character from the television show, portrayed by Walter Goggins.
Back in June 2024, the Head of Bethesda, Todd Howard, spoke about Fallout 5, saying the studio wasn’t interested in rushing it out the door. Given the popularity of the Amazon Prime series based on the game, which performed very well and received the Game Award for Best Adaptation of a video game series in 2024, it is understandable that many fans hoped the studio would have some new projects to capitalize on said success, though the studio was not in a position to do so with much of their resources tied to other projects.
