Dragon Quest VII Reimagined has a demo out now for all platforms available ahead of its February 5 release.
In preparation for the full release of Dragon Quest VII Reimagined on February 5, Square Enix has released a lengthy demo with support to carry over data when it launches. A remake of DRAGON QUEST VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past, the demo will let players go over the beginning of the game, with several hours of content to satiate eager players until the game is out. As a treat for players who have save data from the demo, an exclusive “Day-Off Dress” cosmetic for Maribel will be available.
Revitalizing this arguably must-play entry for fans of the genre, Dragon Quest VII Reimagined has been confirmed to streamline the main story for better pacing and add new storylines and stronger character development. Players will also be able to “moonlight” between two desired vocations for more flexibility and customization. Initially launched in 2000 under the supervision of Yuji Horii and the timeless designs of Akira Toriyama, it originally became one of the highest-selling games of all time in Japan during its release.
This iconic JRPG franchise has been receiving a lot of love lately, with the “Erdrick Arc” of the first three Dragon Quest games getting the HD-2D treatment: the third game, but first chronologically, and 1 & 2 in one whole package late last year. Before that, the latest original entry, Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, received numerous accolades for becoming the epitome of the JRPG genre in its time. The next sequel and the future of the series, Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate, while announced, is still heavily under wraps.

Preorders of Dragon Quest VII Reimagined will receive an Early Bird Bonus, adding a special costume and three seeds of proficiency to improve character stats. A Digital Deluxe Edition of the game also allows a 48-hour Early Access period and various extra in-game perks. DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined will be available for Nintendo Switch and NS2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam on Feb. 5, 2026.
