After a long wait, and shortly following the announcement of Grand Theft Auto VI being delayed in 2026, Rockstar Games has officially released the second trailer for the game. This should hopefully give fans something to hold them over as we await the official release date of May 26, 2026.
Similar to how Rockstar has done it prior, the second trailer for the game focuses on the narrative of the game and out two new protagonists, lovers Jason and Lucia. While there is no prominent timeline of the game available, it suggests, similar to the previous trailer, that Lucia will begin the game in jail, before being released and going on a crime spree. While the previous trailer had showcased Lucia towards the end, this one focuses heavily on the other part of the equation, Jason.
While the trailer is high cinematic, showcasing scenes of Jason driving past people, a man leaving a liquor store, and a man lifting weights, these moments are usually depicted in-game with as much detail as we are seeing here. The character models and animation look vastly improved over Grand Theft Auto V, which is to be expected given the decade-long wait, but impressive all the same.
The latter half of the trailer depicts some of what we can expect to play through, such as the couple holding people at gunpoint with bandanas over their mouths, or attempting to outrun a helicopter in an airboat with the Everglades (or Vice City’s version of them) on full display. It also appears Lucia will have community service to contend with, though whether the player will participate in it, which isn’t unheard of for a Grand Theft Auto game, remains to be seen.
Grand Theft Auto VI will be available on May 26, 2026, for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. A PC version isn’t planned for launch, though Rockstar usually releases a PC version later.
