As it turns out, Warhorse Studios’ planned announcement for their next game was a Sequel to their debut game, and one of my favorite games of the previous generation, Kingdom Come Deliverance. Titled Kingdom Come Deliverance II, the game looks to offer more of what made the first game so memorable.
A direct sequel to the previous entry, the game continues the story of Henry who by the end of his story last time has become a full-fledged knight who is still on a quest to see the man who ordered his village attacked face the business end of his blade. In the trailer, this point works well as we see that we will control a seasoned soldier who commands more respect than he ever did previously.
This time around, players will have twice as much area to explore, with the game featuring two distinct areas that each offer about as much ground as the first game’s entire map. One of these areas will be the Bohemian wilderness which is untouched and untamed. The other will be Kutná Hora, the second largest city in Bohemia after Prague, and its surrounding area.
While not on full display in the trailer, with radicals removed, it does appear the position and angle-based combat will make a return. We get to see Henry face off in multiple locations such as open fields and tight city streets. It will be interesting to learn just how combat has been fully improved to build off of what was already a great system.
The absolute best part is that according to the trailer, we don’t have long to wait for the next chapter of 15th-century chivalry. Kingdom Come Deliverance II is set to release in 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and Microsoft Windows.
