Publisher Square Enix and Developer Deck Nine have officially announced Life is Strange: Reunion, which they had previously announced via a teaser trailer for the title released last week. This is the second title in a two-game contract that Deck Nine has signed with Square Enix, the first of these being 2024’s Double Exposure, with both featuring the return of the series original protagonist, Max Caulfeild.
Reunion will pick up shortly after the events of Double Exposure, with Max Caulfeild attempting to stop Caledon, the University in which she lives as a photographer-in-residence, from experiencing another tragedy after the ones that plagued the previous game. Max will have only 3 days to prevent these events from transpiring, but the trailer does suggest she will see the return of her time-rewinding powers to do so. Narratively, it was stated she stopped using these powers following the events of the first game, with her developing the ability to shift realities in Double Exposure.
Later on in the trailer, the biggest rumor about the title is confirmed, with Chloe Price, who played a pivotal role in the first game before starring in Before The Storm in 2017. She also appeared in flashbacks during the True Colors DLC Wavelengths. The player is given a dialog choice in Double Exposure to canonize one of the two endings of the first title in their playthrough. It is left vague in the trailer how they will explain her return after dying for some players in the trailer. What the trailer does heavily suggest, though, is that Reunion will serve as a final chapter to the two-part story set up in 2024, but to Max Caulfield’s journey as a whole.
Life is Strange: Reunion will release on March 26, 2026, and will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC
