While previously showcased when the Nintendo Switch 2 was announced earlier this year, the latest Mario Kart, announced as Mario Kart World, received an official showcasing during the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct.
The title, like is usually the case with most Mario Kart games, offers a pretty big indicator of what players can expect here, mainly that there will be an open world to explore for the first time in the franchise’s history. While the classic Grand Prix will return, all tracks are backed into a connected experience that will allow you and your friends to drive off the beaten path and discover new paths and adventures. Between races in a Grand Prix, players will also drive manually to their next course, rather than just load into the next course.
Another new feature that the game will see is a Dynamic system with stages able to be driven during different times of day as well as in different weather conditions. A new mode is also being added to the game, named Knockout Mode, that will feature players trying to pass checkpoints with players getting knocked out if they aren’t in a good enough position.
More information will be made available concerning Mario Kart World will be made available when Nintendo holds a Direct focusing on the game on April 17th. It will become available for Preorder on April 9, when the Nintendo Switch 2 opens for preorder. It will be available for $79.99 for Digital and $89.99 for physical. It will also be made available in a launch bundle with the Nintendo Switch 2 for $499.99 as a digital code. Given that this is only $50 dollars more than the base switch
